Gainesville-green.com is a hosted application for displaying energy consumption and increasing environmental awareness among energy consumers.
Location and consumption data is imported from several sources and combined to create an intuitive map of usage, including an easy ranking system allowing homeowners to compare and compete.
The Gainesville Green platform has several goals:
- educate consumers on the relationship between energy usage and carbon footprint
- provide consumers with tools to help reduce usage
- provide tools that allow consumers to analyze data however they wish
- provide utilities with a tool to track DSM programs openly
- provide a central database to track and display energy-related information
For questions about the technology and potential extensions, please email Rebecca Birx, or call +1-352-335-6500 x128.
Our Mission
Our mission is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and preserve drinking water supplies by improving energy and water efficiency in buildings. We believe that providing information empowers people, setting goals establishes direction, and comparing performance provides feedback to live and learn from our successes as we leave our footprints on the path toward a cleaner climate, a healthier society, and a more prosperous economy.
Our Founding Partners
This project emerged from a collaboration between Acceleration, International Carbon Bank and Exchange, and the University of Florida Program for Resource Efficient Communities. Together, these founding partners are building a national collaboration between relevant local governments, utility providers, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, and private sector businesses to create an open and transparent platform for displaying, tracking, and learning from building performance feedback.
